Like Bill I have also had a detached retina, due to trauma back in 1976. I made a complete recovery after cryo technique to 'weld' the retina back on. Recovery is a  fairly lengthy process but you should get lots of bed rest in the process.

My very best wishes to you for a complete recovery ASAP.
