Hi Dave,

How do you define 'high performance' in that frequency range? For serious
DXing or contesting you need high sensitivity AND high RX dynamic, much more
than on the HF bands.  There are only a few (expensive) designs that do not
suffer from deficient LOs and overstrained mixers. Bad phase noise limits
not only the RX dynamic, but also generates a bad TX spectrum.

Basically a well designed DDC/DUC approach could be the key architecture to
overcome these issues in a economic way, but it's certainly not a weekend
project.
