Hans,
Yes, I've followed the instructions meticulously.  I can't even get the Bootloader program to read the MAC address of the Metis card.  So, the rest is moot.  I'll have to take another look at the way I've installed the gigabit ethernet card into the computer.  Maybe it is installed in the wrong position.  I'll be trying that tomorrow.

      So, I've worked most of the day trying everything I
        can find in the instructions and still no joy.  I've removed all
        cards except for Metis and tried the Bootloader and the

        I've found nothing in the Metis or Atlas instructions about
          removing I2C jumpers.  Could you be more specific about these,
          i.e. where they are located, under what circumstances they
