Hi Bryan, 

There are several ways that paid subscriptions could be paid for, of course.  I do appreciate your willingness to contribute but if we begin to utilize paid subscriptions then others who might be willing to get their feet wet with FPGA programming in the openHPSDR community would not have access to those subscriptions so it hardly seems appropriate to have a select few to have the paid tools in such a project.  Further, as for me personally and I believe Phil feels similarly, we really do not wish to embark on a new career in FPGA programming, this is a hobby after all, and having others pay for fancy tools for us would put an undue guilt trip on us if we wish to, or at some point decide to, put less time in on this “hobby” project.  

We have demonstrated that what needs to be done can in fact be done using the free tools, albeit with some effort.
