[hpsdr] Sniffing computer <> Metis to control other things

I'm not sure what you've been sniffing, Jim, ha ha! :-)

You are way over-complicating things. Just use the multiplicity of CAT
ports in PowerSDR or Thetis to get frequency data to nearly any major ham
radio software app you care to name. No sniffing required.

Also, AFAIK, no software "sniffs" anything. In certain circumstances, for
instance the N1MM FocusMaster feature in PowerSDR and Thetis, a documented
UDP or IP interface is exploited, i.e. it is a designed-in communications
feature, not "sniffing" anything.

What *exactly* do you want to do, functionally, that you are not doing
right now? Control a SteppIR? Control an antenna switch? Control an amp?
What?

Or is this just curiosity about how PowerSDR or Thetis communicates with
the firmware? It's documented. Look for the documentation folders in P1 or
P2, as desired: https://github.com/TAPR/OpenHPSDR-Firmware

I think with Metis you are limited to P1 firmware and PowerSDR, there is no
P2 firmware for Metis (and, AFIAK, nor will there be).
