[hpsdr] dumb question

I’ve been running Thetis 2.8.11 for about three years and love it.  But there are a few little things that irritate me and I’m tempted to upgrade.  I see that Thetis 2.9.0.2 is now available and I have a couple dumb questions about it:

1) Is 2.9.0.2 protocol 1?  I’m not interested in Protocol 2.
2) Do I need to uninstall 2.8.11 before installing 2.9.0.2.  That’s a bit scary.
